Dr. Laura Windsor received her Doctorate of Optometry and Bachelor’s degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry, In June 2011, in ceremonies at Salt Lake City; the American Optometric Association presented her with the National Young Optometrist of the Year Award citing her work in low vision care.
In 2010, the Indiana Optometric Association honored her with two major awards, the President’s Citation as the Outstanding Young Doctor of Optometry in Indiana and the Meritorious Service Award. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and serves on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Low Vision Rehabilitation Association.
At Indiana University, she received the Essilor Award of Excellence, given to an outstanding student in her graduating class and the Varilux Award. In June 2001, she received the National Essilor Award for a paper on the application of progressive addition lenses to low vision patients.
Dr. Windsor specializes in the low vision rehabilitation of those with vision loss from problems such as achromatopsia, albinism, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, congenital eye diseases, stroke and traumatic brain injury. Driving with low vision is another area of emphasis in her practice. She does extensive work with bioptic driving. Dr. Windsor has lectured on low vision rehabilitation in Indiana and across the United States.
